For years the original 1960 Color Base set was assumed to be complete at 12 Major League teams (15 if you include the 3 Minor League examples). This is an important recent discovery, it's been out there but most "experts" (myself humbly included) failed to recognize this doll. I had seen a few over the years but always dismissed it as a repainted phony. After about the 4th time I saw one I finally realized (with the help of other advanced collectors) that this is the real deal and the 13th Major League team to add to the set. That's big news after all these years!
This Cards doll has the original color base (much different from the Green Base set), the embossed Cardinals chest logo (the Green Base set came with a decal), and the same bird head mold that was used for the Orioles in the 1960 set. He's in great condition with bright colors and gloss and a nice logo. He's had a cleaning and some smoothing of the head rim and looks mint on the shelf. If you want to complete your set, here it is. First one I've had and doubt another will pop up anytime soon.
